Methane (CH4) is a colorless and odorless gas. For safety reasons it is often mixed with trace amounts of an odorant to allow its detection, that’s right, that awful ‘rotten egg’ smell is for our protection.
Methane (CH4) displaces oxygen and mixtures of 5-14% in the air are explosive! It is also used as a raw material in the manufacture of fertilizers, explosives and chloroform and is the principal source of methanol.
Livestock are responsible for 18% of the greenhouse gases that cause global warming, more than cars, planes and all other forms of transport put together!
