The Analox MEC (Mini Electrochemical) is a small, robust sensor module available in a range of gas variants. All variants are housed in an IP65 enclosure and conform to the same physical dimensions, power requirements and communication protocol.
The MEC sensor range includes Oxygen (O2), Helium (He), Carbon Monoxide (CO) and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), all providing an RS485 output using Analox protocol.
An integral pressure sensor provides compensation for the effects of atmospheric pressure where appropriate.
Digital communication via RS485 permits mounting the sensor remotely from the monitoring equipment.
The Analox MEC allows for easy replacement of sensor cells.
The Analox MEC Oxygen (O2) Sensor has been inspired by the proven 9212 range of electrochemical oxygen (O2) sensors.
The principle of electrochemical galvanic action is used by the cells to operate. This produces an electrical current proportional to the absorption of oxygen through a Teflon membrane.
The partial pressure of oxygen present is proportional to the absorption rate.
The sensor output is virtually immune to cross interference, as neither the membrane or partial pressure of oxygen (O2) are affected by the majority of most other gases.
The 9212 series sensor within the Analox MEC Oxygen (O2) Sensor and the Analox MEC Oxygen (O2) Sensor itself are both field replaceable, which helps give them a long life expectancy and make them very cost effective for the monitoring of oxygen.
Electrochemical cells are utilised by the Analox MEC CO sensors.
For monitoring carbon monoxide, the Analox MEC CO sensors are extremely cost effective, with field replaceable cells that have a long life expectancy.
Integration into larger gas management systems has been made easy, with a digital serial communications interface.
Breathing in pure helium (He) can cause death by asphyxiation in just minutes. Inhaling helium (He) from a pressurized tank can also cause a gas or air embolism, which is a bubble that becomes trapped in a blood vessel, blocking it. The blood vessels can rupture and hemorrhage.
The Analox MEC He is ideal for integration into a breathing air compressor or system. Our sensors are highly accurate, compact and have a long life expectancy.
VOC’s (volatile organic compounds) are any organic compounds having an initial boiling point less than or equal to 250°C, measured at a standard atmospheric pressure of 101.3kPa, and can cause damage to visual or audible senses. These include both man-made and naturally occurring chemical compounds.
Examples of common, everyday VOC’s are gasoline fumes, paint solvents, air fresheners, construction chemicals such as carpet adhesives, dry cleaning and the gaseous portion of cigarette smoke. Along with particulates, VOC’s are believed to be the major contributors to poor indoor (and outdoor) air quality. Most are thought to be carcinogenic in high concentrations and through long-term exposure.
